Local roadworks

An experimental page aiming to make a central single point to find information about (mainly planned) road closures, works and events that are likely to affect residents of York Place.

Most of the information will be drawn from the one.network site which is generally a reliable and up to date source of information.

I'm aiming to update the information a couple of times a month, more often in the case of live works.

October 2026

Cadent, Friday 30th to Saturday 31st. Planned works on Barbourne Road at the junction with St George's Lane (by Sainsbury's). This will feature traffic lights and is probably a follow-up to the emergency works there a few months back.

Worcester Bridge

Between 19th October and 9th November there will be only one lane operating eastbound while the damaged parapet is replaced. There will be overnight closures for one night before and one night after these works to place the road barriers.

November 2026

Between Monday 2nd to Friday 6th. Worcestershire County Council, road closure for planned works on Albany Terrace near the URC. It's a return visit to the gully that doesn't drain despite being worked on just before the recent resurfacing. So probably quite a big hole, not just the gully and we'll most likely have to drive round through Britannia Square to get to and from the Tything for at least part of the week.

Mid November will also see foot crossing improvements to stop the pooling of water at the junction between St George's Lane and Barbourne Road by Sainsbury's. That end of St George's Lane will be temporarily closed at times.

Those of us on the west side of York Place received an (undated) letter some months back, saying that STW were going to undertake work on wastewater pipework on 9th November. It appears that this work has already been carried out (in late September) so we don't need to expect disruption in York Place Lane on the 9th.

Past Works

September 2026

Cadent dug a large hole in the pavement at the Albany Terrace end of York Place to attend to a gas leak. After a false start the surface has been replaced with concrete patching.
