Every year, the York Place Residents' Association organises at least one Street Cleaning Day. Residents are asked to park away from the street and the City Council have often provided a motorised road sweeping vehicle to clean the street. A party of volunteers remove moss and weeds from the pavements. This helps to keep the street looking neat and tidy. The event is social as well as practical, and often features the welcome addition of a snack and tea stall for the hungry workers.
